UPDATE: RCMP charge man in Lower Truro armed robbery
Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man involved in an armed robbery on Robie St. in Lower Truro.
On Sunday February 20, at approximately 6:55 p.m., a man entered the Esso gas station on Robie St. in Lower Truro, where he threatened staff with a weapon while demanding that they open the safe. The man was given cash and cigarettes and then fled the gas station. The man then tried to escape the area in a vehicle that was already occupied by other people, near the drive thru at the McDonald’s on Robie St. The man was unsuccessful and fled the area on foot. No one was injured during either incident.
On March 2, Colby Daniel Scott Smith, 25, of Truro, was charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Attempted Abduction of Person Under Sixteen (3 counts), Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order (3 counts). Smith was already in custody for unrelated matters when the charges were laid. Smith will appear in Truro Provincial Court on March 30, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
