Police issue summary offence tickets for failing to follow Health Protection Act
Police issued summary offence tickets for failing to comply with the regulations set out in the Health Protection Act in relation to two separate incidents that occurred last Friday at different locations in Halifax.
On February 4 at approximately 3:50 p.m. police received a report of loud noise resulting from a gathering at a residence. Officers found that the gathering exceeded the current COVID-19 public health directives related to gathering limits. Officers issued summary offence tickets to two 18-year-old men under section 71 (1) (b) of the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with the act and its regulations, which carries a fine of $2,422.00.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. police received a report of loud noise resulting from a gathering at a residence. Officers found that the gathering exceeded the current COVID-19 public health directives related to gathering limits. Officers issued summary offence tickets to 51 people under section 71 (1) (b) of the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with the act and its regulations, which carries a fine of $2,422.00.
