Planned storm closures affecting COVID-19 testing centres and vaccine clinics
With winter storm and freezing rain warnings in effect across Nova Scotia, some COVID-19 testing centres and outreach vaccine clinics will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 4, and into Saturday morning, Feb. 5. Following are details of planned closures or changes in hours affecting testing centres and outreach vaccine clinics:
Eastern Zone:
  • COVID-19 testing centres in Inverness and Cheticamp will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4.
  • Pop-up rapid testing scheduled for Arichat OLA Parish Hall on Friday, Feb. 4 has been cancelled.
  • Vaccine outreach clinics at North Sydney Community Food Bank and the Ally Centre in Sydney will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4.
Northern Zone:
  • COVID-19 testing centres in Amherst, Truro and New Glasgow will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4 and the morning of Saturday, Feb. 5. They will reopen at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Appointments will be added on Saturday to meet potential increased demand from the closure.
  • Pop-up rapid testing at the Pictou Legion remains open on Friday, Feb. 4. However, only take-home test kits will be available (no walk-in testing).
  • The outreach vaccine clinic at Oxford Fire Hall on Friday, Feb. 4 has been cancelled.
Western Zone
  • The COVID-19 testing centre in Digby will be closed on Friday, Feb. 4. The centre will open on Saturday, Feb. 5 to meet potential increased demand from the closure.
  • Pop-up rapid testing at the Chester Basin Fire Department has been rescheduled for February 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.​ Take-home kits and walk-in testing available.
  • Vaccine outreach clinics scheduled for New Ross and Canning have been rescheduled:
  • New Ross Legion (Rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
  • Canning Multiplex (Rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
