Police charge woman for robbery

Police have charged a woman in relation to a robbery that occurred in Halifax earlier this week.

On January 2 at approximately 6:30 p.m. police responded to an injured person call at 5201 Duke Street. A woman with a knife approached a man who was in the parkade and demanded money. She stabbed the man and fled on foot with an amount of cash. The man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. officers located the suspect in Halifax and arrested her without incident.

Kiara Marie Organ, 18, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

Police investigate suspicious fire

Police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in Halifax last week.

On January 1 at approximately 3:50 a.m. police responded to a report of a number of vehicles on fire in a parking lot on Glenforest Drive. Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency extinguished the fires. Three vehicles were damaged and there were no reported injuries.
