UPDATE –
Chlorine Levels are Now Normal – Burnside Area
Halifax Water has conducted follow-up field testing and is now confirming chlorine levels in drinking water for the Burnside area are within the acceptable range. We have resumed our regular monitoring of the system.
We are committed to providing safe, reliable, high quality drinking water to our customers. Based on our analysis, the water is safe and there is no impact on public health at this time.
If customers do experience a strong odour of chlorine from their tap, they are advised to let their COLD water run until it is no longer noticeable. If the odour persists, wait a few hours and again try running only the cold water again. If you do notice this odour, we respectfully ask that you contact our Customer Care Centre at 902-420-9287.

Chlorine Level Advisory – Burnside Area
Halifax Water has experienced an issue with the water treatment process within the Burnside area. As a result, customers in the Burnside Area of Dartmouth could temporarily experience higher levels of chlorine in their drinking water.
If there is a strong odour of chlorine from your tap, customers are advised to let their COLD water run until it is no longer noticeable. If the odour persists, wait a few hours and again try running only the cold water again. If you do notice this odour, we respectfully ask that you contact our Customer Care Centre at 902-420-9287.
Halifax Water is conducting sampling and our operations team is currently flushing the system to address the issue.
