2021 annual Hopscotch Arts Festival returns: Hip Hop in Halifax
This year’s Hopscotch Festival, Hip Hop in Halifax, will take place from Thursday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Sept. 26 in Halifax.
Hopscotch, the largest hip hop and youth-focused event in Atlantic Canada, is a free festival to unite, energize and support the region’s vibrant and diverse music and youth communities. Each year, the festival showcases both local hip hop artists and international headliners.
The festival will include the following events:
- Thursday, Sept. 23: The kickoff event will feature Each One Teach One “Next Best” Showcase, where local artists will compete for a $500 prize, as well as a performance on the Main Stage. The event will take place at the Saltyard Stage (1549 Lower Water Street) at 7 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 24: A Decade of Quake Matthews will be the special showcase, with Toronto artists TONA and Aquasocks as co-headliners. The event will take place at the Grand Oasis Stage (Grand Parade Square) at 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 25: Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe Called Red) will headline the main event, which will also feature DIJAHSB and The Woods Dance Crew. The event will take place at the Grand Oasis Stage at 6 p.m.
- Sunday, Sept. 26: The festival’s finale will include a free community barbecue, with artists performing on the Grand Oasis Stage, as well as an All Styles Dance Battle, The East Coast Block Party DJs, and Gamechangers902.
