Hazard identified: The dehumidifiers can overheat, posing a fire hazard. As of July 14, 2021 the company has received 2 reports of incidents in Canada, that resulted in fire and/or smoke damage to property. No incidents of injury were reported in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 104 reports of incidents that resulted in fire and/or smoke damage to property. No incidents of injury have been reported in the United States. In Mexico, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the dehumidifier, unplug the unit, and contact the manufacturer handling the recall, New Widetech Industries Co. Ltd., for a refund. For more information, consumers can contact New Widetech Industries at toll free number: 877-251-1512 (Hours of Operation: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday) or visit New Widetech’s recall website. Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.
