Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work lane drops will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Night Time Road Construction – St. Margarets Bay Road

Location: St. Margarets Bay Road from Balcomes Drive to the Armdale Rotary

Date: Thursday, July 22

Time: 6 p.m., Thursday, July 22 to 6 a.m., Friday July 23​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work there will be a lane drops in place.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Lady Hammond Road Bridge

Location: Lady Hammond Road from Commission Street to Memorial Drive

Date: Friday, July 23 to Monday, July 26

Time: This closure will be in place 24 hours per day from 7 p.m. Friday, July 23 ​ to 6 a.m. Monday, July 26

Work details: This work is part of the Lady Hammond Road Bridge Rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.​

Traffic impact: ​ The bridge will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians during the times listed.​ A marked detour will be in place during this closure.​ Transit users should be aware that Route 29 Point Pleasant Park/Route 29 Bayers Road Shopping Centre via Mumford will be detoured in the area of the closure and some stops will be closed.​ Information related to detours and stop closures can be found http://www.halifax.ca/transportation/halifax-transit/service-disruptions or by contacting 311.

Traffic Delay – Main Avenue, Halifax

Location: Main Avenue between Willet and Titus streets

Date: Friday, July 23

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: Natural gas service line installation.

Traffic impact: One-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Location: Intersection of Oxford and Allan streets

Date:​ Thursday, July 22

Time:​ 9 a.m. to noon (weather permitting)

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place with occasional stop-and-go traffic while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Closure – Alderney Drive

Alderney Drive, between Ochterloney and Queen streets

Date: Tuesday, July 20 to Wednesday, July 21 (rain dates Thursday, July 22 to Friday, July 23) Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24 (rain dates Sunday, July 25 and Monday, July 26)

Time: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. ​

Work details: This work is to facilitate street art installation.​ The Halifax Regional Municipality will be re-painting the words “Black Lives Matter”. The art installation is the municipality’s way of supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and will be painted by contractors hired by the municipality. To learn more about this initiative and how the municipality is addressing anti-Black racism, please visit our website.

Traffic impact: Traffic personnel will be on-site and a marked detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Time: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. ​

Work details: This work is for road construction. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: During this work, the signals will be shut down and traffic control personnel will be in place to direct motorists, bicycles and pedestrians.​ ​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Outbound lane on Robie Street between Young Street and Massachusetts Avenue

Date: Wednesday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 14 Tuesday, July 20

Time: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 14

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be a 24-hour lane closure in place while work is underway.​ The southbound left turn lane to Young Street will also be closed to accommodate northbound traffic.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Closure – Robie Street

Location: Robie Street southbound, between Shirley and Pepperell streets

Date: Monday, July 19 to Monday, August 2

Time: Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays (no weekend work)

Work details: This work is for the removal of barriers, as well as for the reinstatement of the sidewalk and curb.​

Traffic impact: One lane of traffic on Robie Street southbound, between Shirley and Pepperell streets, will be closed while work is underway. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes whenever possible.

The sidewalk will also be closed until work is complete. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct pedestrian traffic around the work site as necessary.

During this closure, the bus stop on Robie Street after Pepperell Street (8183) will be closed – transit users may instead use the previous stop on Robie Street before Quinpool Road (8214), or the proceeding stop on Robie Street before Cedar Street (8196).

Road Construction – Cole Harbour Road

Location: Cole Harbour Road from Caldwell to Bissett roads

Date: Friday, July 16

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.​

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be a lane drop in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.

**** Provincial Media Release

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 111, Dartmouth

Highway 111, Exit 4 eastbound, and Highway 118, Exit 11 southbound, will be closed for roadwork from Wednesday, July 21, to Friday, July 23, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Detour is in place via Wright Avenue. Signage and traffic control are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge on Wyse Road is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Sunday, Aug. 1.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exits 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for roadwork until Thursday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exits 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control is on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
