Weekly Traffic Advisories (June 18)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

**** HRM Media Release

Road Construction – Robie Street

Location: Intersection of Robie Street and Oakland Road

Date:​ Tuesday, June 22 Thursday, June 24

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to facilitate paving on Oakland Road.​

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place on Robie Street while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Agricola Street

Location: 2606 Agricola St., Halifax

Date:​ June 24, 2021 and June 26, 2021

Time:​ All work has been restricted to night and weekends.

Work details: This work is for asphalt paving.

Traffic impact: This work will be completed in two steps:

  1. Work will begin at June 24 at 6 p.m. and will include the pouring of concrete. This work is expected to take approximately 2 hours to complete.
  2. On June 26, asphalt restoration will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The lights will be shut off at the intersection of Agricola and North streets during this time.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Cumberland Drive, Forest Hills Parkway and the Cole Harbour Road intersection

Location: Cumberland Drive from Colby Drive to Cole Harbour Road, and from 9 Forest Hills Parkway to the Cole Harbour Road intersection. Work will also take place at the intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Forest Hills Parkway.

Date:​ Wednesday, June 23 to Friday, June 25

Time:​ 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each day

Work details: This work is for asphalt paving.

Traffic impact: This work will be completed each evening in two steps:

  1. Work will be completed on Cumberland Drive from Colby Drive to Cole Harbour Road both evenings between 6 p.m. and approximately 8 p.m. with lane drops and stop-and-go traffic. ​ ​ ​ ​

  1. Work will begin on Forest Hills Parkways from 9 Forest Hills Parkway to the Cole Harbour Road intersection at approximately 8 p.m. and continue until 6:30 a.m. the following morning.​ As crews begin work in the intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Forest Hills Parkway, the traffic signals will be shut off and Traffic Control Personnel will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians.​

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Road Construction – Joseph Howe Drive

Location: Joseph Howe Drive from the Bedford Highway to Scot Street

Date:​ Wednesday, June 23

Time:​ 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate road maintenance

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Pleasant Street

Location: 370 Pleasant Street

Date: Wednesday, June 23 to Friday, June 25

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: Roadway restoration

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Glendale Drive

Location: Glendale Drive at the intersections of Rankin and Smokey drives

Date:​ Tuesday, June 22 until Friday, June 25

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ each daily

Work details: This work is to accommodate road maintenance

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place, on Glendale Drive, while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location: Intersection of Robie Street and Oakland Road

Date:​ Tuesday, June 22

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Location: Hammonds Plains Road between Northwood Road and Westwood Boulevard

Date:​ Monday, June 21

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​

Work details: This work is to accommodate pavement rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Road Construction – Joseph Howe Drive

Location: Joseph Howe Drive from the Highway 102 ramps to the Armdale Rotary

Date:​ Monday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 23 (weather permitting)

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.​ each day

Work details: This work is for road maintenance.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Road Closure – Gottingen Street

Location: ​ Gottingen Street from North to Almon streets

Date:​ Saturday, June 19

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate asphalt milling.

Traffic impact: Gottingen Street will be closed in both directions. A marked detour will be in place while work is underway. Local traffic will be accommodated.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location: Bedford Highway at Flamingo Drive

Date: Saturday, June 19

Time: Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m

Work details: This work is related to roadway rehabilitation

Date: Saturday, June 19

Road Closure – Gottingen Street

Location: ​ Gottingen Street from North to Charles streets

Date:​ Sunday, June 20

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate a pole/anchor replacement associated with sewer repair.

Traffic impact: Gottingen Street will be closed to inbound traffic while work is underway. Gottingen Street will be open to outbound traffic. Traffic personnel will be on-site and a marked detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Location: Purcells Cove Road, between Williams Lake and 2490 Purcells Cove roads

Date:​ Monday June 21 and Tuesday, June 22

Time:​ 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.​ each day

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.

**** TRANSPORTATION Media Release

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge, on Wyse Road, is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exits 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for road work until Wednesday, June 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exits 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control is on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
