Thule Tepui Hybox, Thule Tepui Hybox Wedge, Tepui Hybox, Tepui Hybox Wedge rooftop tents recalled due to potential injury hazard

Common name: Thule Tepui Hybox, Thule Tepui Hybox Wedge, Tepui Hybox, Tepui Hybox Wedge rooftop tents

Product description: This recall involves the following rooftop tents manufactured by Thule Sweden AB.

The following products are included in this recall:
Product Name Model Number
Thule Tepui Hybox 901100
Thule Tepui Hybox Wedge 901110
Tepui Hybox 8001HB103 and 8001HB112
Tepui Hybox Wedge 8001HB203

Consumers can locate the product label which lists the model number on the driver’s side rear hinge of the Rooftop tent. The affected products were manufactured between January 2018 and April 2021.

Hazard identified: Thule has determined that, due to a design defect in the fixation solution between the hard-shell and the mounting hardware (base aluminum rail), under certain environmental and driving conditions, the rooftop tent may be improperly secured to the mounting hardware. The shell material will see excessive force causing the shell to crack and detach from the mounting hardware, resulting in potential injury. As of May 21, 2021, the company has received no reports of injury in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of rooftop tents detaching from the mounting hardware and no reports of injuries.
