Traffic stop leads to arrests and the seizure of a weapon and drugs in Eastern Passage

On May 20, Halifax District RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that led to two people being arrested and the seizure of a weapon and drugs.

On May 20, police stopped a vehicle on Main Rd in Eastern Passage. The male driver refused to identify himself and was arrested for obstruction. During his arrest, a prohibited weapon (baton) was located in the vehicle near his feet. Once his identity was known, police determined that the man’s licence had previously been revoked.

Investigation revealed that the female passenger was in possession of drug and drug trafficking items. Police seized cocaine, heroin, cash, illegal cigarettes and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The 29-year-old Halifax man was later released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 14 for the charge of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and he was issued a ticket for Driving while Revoked under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.

The 32-year-old Dartmouth woman was later released and she is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 13 to face charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing.
