**** Info via MARS
Many cetacean species are currently on the move, with some returning to the rich waters around the Maritimes to feed and raise their babies.
It is critical people remember that these are wild animals, and they should not interact with them! This is especially important for social species like beluga whales as they are very curious and may seek out interactions. While this may seem benign, it can pose serious issues if the animal does not leave and remains in busy areas where threats like vessel strikes and entanglement could occur.
If you see any of these animals, enjoy them from a distance – remember, they are protected under Canadian laws and it is illegal to approach, harass or feed them!
