New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a 38-year-old adult male with impaired driving after a single motorcycle collision in New Glasgow, N.S.

On Thursday May 6, 2021 at 9:30 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police received reports of a single motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed on Westville Road, New Glasgow.

Within minutes New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a single motorcycle collision on Westville Road near Western Avenue.

New Glasgow Regional Police and Emergency Health Services responded, and upon investigation, a 38-year-old -male from Pictou County was charged with.

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Failing to Wear a Helmet.
Operating off Highway Vehicle on a Highway.
The driver was treated with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The motorcycle was for off road use only and not licensed for street use.

The driver was later released with strict conditions and will appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court at a later date.

The New Glasgow Regional Police want to remind the public that if you suspect an impaired driver, you can call 911. Police will ask the following information in suspected cases of impaired driving:

license plate number
make-model of vehicle.
description of driver
location of vehicle
direction of travel
New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
