Police charge man for firearms and drug offences

Police have charged a man with firearms and drug trafficking offences in relation to an incident in Halifax on the weekend.

On March 26 at approximately 6 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint in the 200 block of Wentworth Drive in Halifax.​ Officers located four men in two vehicles at that location, one of whom was injured. Three of the men were arrested and the fourth man fled on foot.​ Two of the men, the injured man and another man, were released without charges a short time later.​ The injured man had non-life-threatening injuries and declined medical treatment. The third man was found to be in possession of approximately 2 lbs. of crack cocaine and officers seized a loaded handgun from one of the vehicles.​

Derrick Coryaunt Allison, 30, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession in motor vehicle
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
