Police charge man for robbery and theft of motor vehicle
Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery and a theft of a motor vehicle that occurred last month in Halifax.
On December 30 at 6:55 p.m. police responded to a report of a theft of a motor vehicle at the Shell gas station located at 2616 Robie Street in Halifax. A man stole a car from the gas pumps while the driver was in the gas station.
Shortly after 7 p.m. police responded to a robbery in progress at the Needs convenience store located at 33 Herring Cove Road in Halifax. A man entered the store, threatened the clerk with a knife and demanded cash. The man fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and left the area in a car. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators identified the suspect in the theft of the motor vehicle and the robbery. On January 4 the man was arrested in possession of the stolen vehicle in New Brunswick by members of the St. George Detachment of the New Brunswick RCMP. HRP investigators traveled to New Brunswick and brought the man back to Halifax.
Raymond Gary Stroud, 37, of Dartmouth was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on January 8 to face charges of:
•Robbery with weapon
•Theft of motor vehicle
•Breach of probation
•Possession of property obtained by crime
•Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
•Uttering threats
•Prohibition to operate a conveyance
