Police charge man after dangerous driving incident yesterday
Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a dangerous driving incident in Halifax yesterday.
At approximately 12:10 p.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 inbound to Halifax. The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 140 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The vehicle exited the highway and turned on to Dunbrack Street, reaching speeds 140km/h in an 80 km/h zone. When the officer activated their emergency lights, the vehicle accelerated to 170 km/h. The officer did not pursue the vehicle given the location and potential danger to the public.
The driver was located a short distance away fleeing the vehicle on foot and was arrested without incident.
Arnold Albert Greene, 55, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face criminal charges of dangerous driving and fleeing police.
He was ticketed under the Motor Vehicle Act for stunting, driving with no insurance, driving while his license is revoked and for having bald tires.
