A message from Fire Chiefs Todd Pepperdine &
Ken Stuebing

Our departments became aware of residents’ concerns over a change in emergency response practices. The following briefing is being issued to reassure residents and businesses of both Enfield and Halifax Regional Municipality that public safety and emergency response remains a top priority of our departments.

While the old and outdated response agreement between the organizations is being reviewed and updated, as a regular part of business and best practice, there has been no changes made to the historical emergency response practices.

Our leadership teams have had very productive meetings to review changes to each organization and our communities. We have identified opportunities for working better together and we hope to have an updated agreement shortly.

Both Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency and the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department are confident that the new agreement will not only maintain longstanding emergency response practices but will also include new emergency response automatic aid and mutual aid provisions to make both our communities safer.

Yours in Service,
Fire Chief Todd Pepperdine
