Police charge man for sexual assault
Police have charged a man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred last week in Halifax.
On November 26 police responded to a report of a sexual assault that had occurred at a retail business in the 5600 block of Spring Garden Road in Halifax. A man assaulted a female youth under the age of sixteen with whom he had acquaintances in common. The man was arrested at an address in Dartmouth at approximately 3 a.m. on November 27.
We are not providing any further details to protect the victim.
Investigators with the Sexual Assault Investigative Team of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged Cody Dylan MacIntosh, 24, of Dartmouth, with sexual assault, sexual interference and making child pornography. MacIntosh is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
Sexual assault investigations are complex. As part of our victim-centered, trauma-informed approach to sexualized violence, we work closely with victims to determine if they wish to proceed with an investigation and charges. Police must also ensure the victim’s privacy is upheld and their well-being is fully considered.
