Multi-agency enforcement initiative in Sheet Harbour

On October 23, members of the Halifax District RCMP and the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal’s Vehicle Transportation Inspection Division participated in a joint enforcement operation. Checkpoints were set up in Sheet Harbour at Hwy. 7 and Hwy. 224,​ and Hwy. 7 and Hwy. 374. Over 150 vehicles were checked for compliance during the two-hour operation, which resulted in:

  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Three drivers charged with Operating Vehicle Without Valid Inspection Sticker
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Two drivers charged with Operating Unregistered Vehicle
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​One driver charged with Failing to Stop at Stop Sign
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​One driver charged with Operating Vehicle Without Registration
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Two vehicles​ towed
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​Three re-inspection orders issued
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​9 written warnings
  • ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​24 verbal warnings
