Search warrant leads to grenade and firearms seizure
On March 18, 2025, the Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) Criminal Investigative Division, K-9 Unit, and patrol officers completed a Warrant to Search at a Thomson Drive residence in Bridgewater.
During the search, two handguns, ammunition, and a suspected live grenade were located hidden inside the residence.
Matthew Jordan Corkum faces the following charges:
– Having an explosive substance with intent to endanger life
– Two counts of failing to comply with a release order (possessing a weapon and possessing drugs)
– Five counts of possession of prohibited firearm, ammunition or explosive while prohibited by order
– Two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
– Two counts of careless storage of a firearm
– Four counts of possession of a firearm without a license
– Possession of a restricted firearm with accessible ammunition
Corkum has five previous firearms-related convictions. He has been on four different Firearms Prohibition Orders since 2011, is currently under a Lifetime Firearms Ban, and was on two separate Court Release Orders to reside in the community while facing earlier outstanding charges.
Corkum will appear at Bridgewater Provincial Court on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
