A Busy Night for HPFF
Halifax Professional Fire Fighters responded to two working fires overnight, just hours apart. Quick action from our members stopped fire from spreading to nearby homes and led to the rescue of a trapped occupant.
At 11:53 PM, Station 18 (Westphal) arrived within 9 minutes to a large detached garage fire in East Preston. The structure was fully involved, with flames threatening a nearby house. #hfxfirefighters quickly stretched a large-diameter attack line, knocking down the fire before it could spread—saving an adjacent home.
At 2:33 AM, Station 5 (Bayers Road) was first due for reports of a house fire in the West End of Halifax. #hfxfirefighters arrived within 4 minutes to find heavy fire on the rear of a two-story, six-unit apartment building, with flames extending through all levels. A second alarm was transmitted.
Fire fighters from multiple stations launched an aggressive interior attack, searching for occupants while controlling the fire. A victim was found on the second floor and rescued, then transferred to EHS paramedics for treatment.
Response times matter. Fire fighters in fire stations, on fire trucks, matter.
