Golden eagle takes flight!
The impressive golden eagle transferred to us from Prince Edward Island rehabber Candy Gallant (PEI Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc) was released yesterday. And just look a him go!
When originally found he didn’t want to fly, and all of our exams found nothing wrong, and perhaps the youngster had exhausted himself somehow and he just needed some time for some rest and recuperation in our large flight cage. Golden eagles are one of the largest and fastest birds of prey in North America, and they are not residents in our region — but they are seen every now and then as they drop by to catch a meal or two.
