Beach supervision ending for the 2024 season

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that lifeguard supervision at municipal beaches will end on Saturday, Aug. 31 – with the exception of Kearney Lake, Chocolate Lake and Penhorn Lake beaches, which will be supervised until Monday, Sept. 2.

The Bedford Outdoor Pool and the Cole Harbour Outdoor Pool will also be closing on Saturday, Aug. 31. The Halifax Common Pool will remain open until Sunday, Sept. 15.

The Bayers-Westwood, Cole Harbour, Halifax Common, George Dixon, Isleville Street Playground, Sackville, Westmount and Shirley’s splashpads will remain open until Saturday, Sept. 14 – but at reduced hours. Please visit our website for more information.

The municipality will also conclude testing the water quality for bacteria levels and monitoring for blue-green algae at all municipally supervised beaches on Saturday, Aug. 31.
