SPECIAL WEATHER Statement Issued
A prolonged period of rainfall is expected this weekend.
Total rainfall: 40 to 80 mm by end of day Sunday. Locally higher amounts possible.
Locations: most Atlantic coastal counties of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton.
Time span: Some rain developing on Friday, redeveloping on Saturday and continuing through much of Sunday.
Remarks: A persistent weather feature over the Eastern Seaboard will move into the Maritimes beginning on Friday and continue through the weekend. Periods of rain will develop mainly over western parts of the province on Friday, then spread slowly eastward on Saturday and linger over central and eastern Nova Scotia into Sunday. While the rain could be intermittent throughout this period, the tropical nature of the moisture feeding this system could give heavy occasional downpours and locally higher amounts of rain.
