Snowbirds to Take Part in
Nova Scotia Tattoo Festival //
Alan Syliboy & The Thundermakers
added to Tattoo Cast
The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is announcing today that Alan Syliboy & The Thundermakers have joined the cast of the 2023 Tattoo; and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will take part in the show’s Festival.
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will soar over the skies of Halifax this summer as part of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo’s Festival celebrations on July 1st.
One of the Canadian Armed Forces’ most thrilling demonstration teams, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds perform across the country showcasing the skills and strengths of the Canadian Armed Forces. Their Canada Day performance marks their first appearance in Nova Scotia in three years. If inclement weather cancels the Canada Day demonstration, the Snowbirds will perform on July 2nd.
The Snowbirds’ performance will replace the Tattoo’s traditional Canada Day Parade. Further Tattoo Festival events will be announced later in the spring; featuring Tattoo performers at free events around the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The Snowbirds’ show takes place at noon over the Halifax Harbour. A matinee performance of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo will follow at 2:00 pm. The Snowbirds’ appearance is a joint effort between the Tattoo, CFB Halifax and the City of Halifax.
Alan Syliboy & The Thundermakers, headlined by one of the most famous indigenous artists in the world, will appear in the 2023 Tattoo.
Alan Syliboy & The Thundermakers have performed with Symphony Nova Scotia multiple times as part of its Fusion and Pjila’si Sessions, and frequently blends music with art, storytelling, spoken word and indigenous dancers to deliver mesmerizing live performances around the Maritimes.
Syliboy has been shortlisted for the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Masterworks Arts Award several times, received the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, and was the Halifax Public Libraries’ Artist & Innovator in Residence, Fall 2022. He has worked with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics among other high-profile organizations.
They join previously announced performing groups from Australia, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is the world’s largest annual indoor show, and it returns June 30-July 3, 2023, at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, celebrating OCEANS.
Tickets are available exclusively through the Ticket Atlantic Box Office online, and more information can be found on the Tattoo’s website. Kids 18 and under are free with the purchase of adult/senior tickets!
The Tattoo is proudly supported by the Canadian Armed Forces, the Province of Nova Scotia, the Government of Canada, Halifax Regional Municipality, and corporate partners.
