Stanley FATMAX and DEWALT Fiberglass Sledgehammers recalled due to Impact Injury Hazard

Issue

The head of the sledgehammers can loosen prematurely and detach unexpectedly during use, posing an impact injury hazard to the user.

As of March 15, 2023, the company has received 1 report of a sledgehammer head detaching in Canada, and no report of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 191 reports of sledgehammer heads detaching and 2 reports of injuries to the user.

Affected products

This recall involves various DEWALT and Stanley FATMAX Fiberglass Sledgehammers.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled sledgehammers and contact Stanley Black & Decker for a refund.

To obtain a refund, consumers should register on the firm’s recall website (found below), upload a photo of their hammer with “Recalled” written on the handle with permanent marker, and affirm the hammer will be disposed of.
