In the early morning hours on Saturday during the extreme cold snap, Halifax District RCMP officers responded to a 911 call from motorists who had run out of gas. Temperatures had dropped to -24 before windchill and it wasn’t safe for the motorists to leave their vehicle for an extended amount of time without risk of exposure. Officers were happy to help with an empty jerry can and a ride to and from the gas station.
We don’t see extreme cold often, but our hope is that this little story will serve as a reminder to everyone to keep your vehicle topped up and dress for the elements when driving in winter. Safe travels all!
