New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit execute a Search Warrant in relation to a Child Pornography Investigation
On Monday January 10, 2023, at 7:00 am, New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a Martin Avenue residence in New Glasgow, N.S.
The search warrant has been the result of lengthy child pornography investigation. During the search warrant, police have seized several items, including cell phone and laptop.
As a result, a 16-year-old male from Pictou County was arrested at the residence and charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Distribution of Child Pornography. He was held in custody and later released and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou on February 21, 2023.
The investigation is continuing.
In Nova Scotia, it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected Child Pornography. This means that anyone who encounters Child Pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties of failing to report child abuse set out in the Children and Family Services Act.
