Nova Scotia SPCA and PetSmart Charities® of Canada Announce Drive-Thru Pet Pantry
The Nova Scotia SPCA is excited to announce they will be hosting a contact-less drive-thru pet pantry after being awarded a $9,500 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada. Pet owners who have been financially affected by COVID-19 are welcome to pick up one free bag of pet food at participating locations on Monday, June 22, 2020.
The one-day event will be held from 11:00am-2:00pm, or until supplies last, at six locations across Nova Scotia. For safety, drivers will remain in their vehicles while cat or dog food is placed directly into vehicle trunks. Pet owners in need can visit any of the following locations:
- Dartmouth SPCA – 5 Scarfe Crt, Dartmouth
- Kings SPCA – 1285 County Home Rd, Waterville
- Colchester SPCA – 408 Industrial Ave, Truro
- Pictou SPCA – 3504 Granton Rd, New Glasgow
- Cape Breton SPCA – 401 East Broadway, Sydney
- Mariners Centre – 45 Jody Shelley Dr, Yarmouth
“Our goal is to help pets, support families, and strengthen communities,” said Elizabeth Murphy, CEO of the Nova Scotia SPCA. “Many loving pet owners are struggling due to the COVID-19 crisis. We are extremely thankful for PetSmart Charities of Canada’s support and hope this will help keep pets and their families together during this challenging time.”

The Nova Scotia SPCA reminds pet owners if they have traveled outside of Nova Scotia in the past 14 days or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to please stay home. Anyone struggling to feed their pet is encouraged to contact their local SPCA shelter for help. At this time, animal surrenders and adoptions at the Nova Scotia SPCA continue to operate by appointment only.
