RCMP investigating fatal ATV crash
Colchester County District RCMP are investigating a fatal all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash that occurred on a trail near Brookfield.
On November 20, at approximately 6 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP received a report of two missing people who were expected back from an ATV ride.
A search was being initiated with the assistance of local ground search and rescue (GSAR) teams when one of the missing, a 21-year-old Salmon River man, contacted emergency services from a residence he had walked to.
The man, who was suffering from exposure to the elements but was otherwise uninjured, then led RCMP officers, EHS, GSAR and the Brookfield Fire Department to a location on a trail where he and another rider were involved in an ATV crash.
The passenger of the side-by-side, a 20-year-old Salmon River woman, was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office.
