On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and throughout the month of October, you may see HRFE crews wearing this Orange Shirt. It was designed by HRFE member Leroy Fontaine, in consultation with Indigenous community members.

The crest symbols explained:

The maple leaf symbolizes Canada and the ally-ship needed as an entire country.

The feather is to honour and remember the children who never returned home and survivors of the residential school system.

The colour orange is to signify collectively supporting National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, Orange Shirt Day & Every Child Matters.

The four colours of the medicine wheel represent universal representation and inclusivity of Indigenous people, although there are slight variations with colours and meanings across communities.
