Applications open for Neighbourhood Seed Kit Initiative
The Halifax Regional Municipality has opened applications for the Neighbourhood Seed Kit Initiative.
The Neighbourhood Seed Kit Initiative is a new program encouraging residents to build relationships with their neighbours through gardening. Residents can apply to receive a free community seed kit to share with their whole neighbourhood. Each kit contains up to 30 food seed packages.
This Initiative provides an opportunity to build stronger relationships within neighbourhoods, adds to residents’ quality of life, assists the municipality’s climate action goals, and creates safe and healthy places where neighbours can come together.
It also builds on Mayor Savage’s proclamation of 2022 as the “Year of the Garden.”
Applications for the Neighbourhood Seed Kit Initiative are open from Tuesday, March 1 to, March 31. Residents can apply online at halifax.ca/placemaking. The kits will be distributed to residents in April.
