Police have charged two people with stunting in separate incidents yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 2:20 p.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 near Hammonds Plains Road. The officer observed the car’s speed to be 154 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A 57-year-old man was ticketed for stunting and failing to pass on the left of overtaken vehicle under the Motor Vehicle Act.
At approximately 3:05 p.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 approaching Bayers Road. The officer observed the car’s speed to be 118 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. A 44-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Stunting is a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, both drivers were suspended from driving for seven days and the vehicles they were driving were seized. The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
