Increased Harbour Activities during CUTLASS FURY 21

Residents are advised that Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) will be running a training event for CUTLASS FURY 21 in the Bedford Basin and St. Margaret’s Bay on Sunday, September 12, 2021, which will take place from approximately 7:00 a.m. (Atlantic) until late afternoon.

During this period, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships (HMCS) Halifax and Montréal, as well as the United States Ship (USS) Thomas Hudner, along with small boats from the ships, will be in the Bedford Basin. In addition, HMCS Kingston and Toronto will be operating with the USS Forrest Sherman and the French ship Aquitaine off the coast of St. Margaret’s Bay.

Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Cyclone Helicopters will also be participating in the training, carrying out patrols within the areas, dependent upon weather and flying conditions.

As part of this event, the ships will be practicing interdiction and boarding operations, therefore residents will see and hear activities related to this activity, including the firing of blank rounds. Any inconvenience to residents is regretted.
