Weapons Complaint

At 00:40 A.M. Halifax Regional Police patrol officers were called to the area of Barrington Street and Richmond Street in Halifax for multiple concerned citizens reporting hearing multiple firearm discharges. It was reported that several shots were fired and suspects fled in vehicles and or on foot.​

Police arrived onscene and noted that several un-occupied vehicles and a residence were struck by gunfire.

There are no indications of anyone injured as a result.

Police have secured the area and there is no ongoing risk to the public.​

A person of interest has been taken into custody near the scene as well as a vehicle of interest located.

Traffic is closed in the immediate area of Barrington Street between Hanover Street and Duffus Street while members of the Halifax Regional Police Forensic Identification Unit complete their work. This closure is anticipated to remain in place into the morning. When the roadway is re-opened, that will be communicated.

Update – Barrington Street has now been reopened.
