SEEKING INFORMATION ❗️

On Sunday, July 11th six newborn kittens were found abandoned by a citizen in a cardboard box on Kolbec Road in rural Cumberland County. It is believed the kittens were initially dropped off in the afternoon before 6:00pm. Although SPCA Investigators responded immediately, one kitten was found deceased. The kittens are estimated to be less than two-weeks-old and were taken for immediate care.

Abandonment of an animal is a violation of the Animal Protection Act of Nova Scotia and the Criminal Code of Canada. Anyone who has any information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is being asked to contact our confidential animal cruelty line at 1-888-703-7722, e-mail animals@spcans.ca or fill out the form online here: www.novascotiaspca.ca/reportcruelty ⬅

The kittens are receiving around-the-clock care with one of our most experienced and dedicated fosters. They are not accepting adoption applications or visitors at this time.

If you unexpectedly find yourself with new tiny paws and don’t know what to do, the PUP Program, which stands for Prevent Unwanted Pets, is here to help. The Nova Scotia SPCA will fix your female dog or cat for free AND find loving families for the puppies or kittens. Abandonment is never an option. Learn more here: www.novascotiaspca.ca/pup
