Weekly Traffic Advisories (July 2)

Note:  Each week the local listings are expanded and updated.  During the week new and updated tasks are added.  Every week a new post is started with fresh info but previous posts may be still valid.

Traffic Delay – Purcells Cove Road

Parking Lot Construction – Frog Pond Trail

Locations: Purcells Cove Road between Mabou Avenue and Williams Lake Road & Frog Pond Trail parking lot

Date: Friday, July 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to accommodate road rehabilitation on Purcells Cove Road and Frog Pond Trail parking lot rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place on Purcells Cove Road while work is underway.

The Frog Pond Trail parking lot will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians while work is underway.

The trail will remain open and motorists are advised to use the Sir Fleming Park entrance on Dingle Road to park. More information on Frog Pond Trail can be found here.

Location: Rocky Lake Drive, from Cobequid Road to 2234 Rocky Lake Drive

Date:​ Monday, July 5 to Wednesday, July 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Public Service Announcement

Road Construction – Robie Street

Location: Outbound lane on Robie Street between Young Street and Massachusetts Avenue

Date: Wednesday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 14

Time: From 9 a.m. July 7 until 6 p.m. July 14

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation.​ This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: There will be a 24-hour lane closure in place while work is underway.​ The southbound left turn lane to Young Street will also be closed to accommodate northbound traffic.​ Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Date:​ Monday, July 5 to Wednesday, July 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Location: The intersection of Windmill Road and Howe Street

Date:​ Monday, July 5, 2021

Time: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is for pavement rehabilitation. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway, with one lane of traffic maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Traffic Delay – Baker Drive

Location: Baker Drive, between Freshwater Trail and Lindenwood Terrace

Date: Monday, July 5 to Friday, July 9

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day

Work details: Natural gas valve replacement and roadway restoration.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​ ​

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway

Location: 612 Bedford Highway, between Charlotte Lane and Larry Uteck Boulevard

Date: Saturday, June 26 Monday, July 5 to Wednesday, July 7

Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening

Work details: Roadway rehabilitation of natural gas pipeline installation.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible

Road Construction – Wyse Road

Location: Wyse Road, between Windmill and Boland roads

Date:​ Monday, July 5 to Sunday, Oct. 31​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​

Time: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays (with some work during evenings and weekends as the project proceeds)

Work details: This work is related to Phase One of the Macdonald Bridge Bikeway Connectors Project.

This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. During this work, the traffic signals will be shut off at times to facilitate upgrades at the intersections of Wyse and Boland roads, Wyse Road and Nantucket Avenue, and Wyse Road and Thistle Street. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.​

Construction during COVID-19:​ Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to maintain at least two metres of physical distancing.

**** TRANSPORTATION Media Release

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Beaver Harbour Road, Beaver Harbour

Beaver Harbour Road, from Trunk 7 southerly for three kilometres, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Dillmans Bridge, Meaghers Grant

Dillmans Bridge on Wyse Road is closed until further notice. A detour is available via Old Guysborough Road. Signs are in place.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Peggys Point Road, Peggy’s Cove

Peggys Point Road, from the Visitor Information Centre west for about one kilometre, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Wednesday, July 7.

Work to take place from sunrise to sunset.

ANTIGONISH: Highway 104, Frankville

Highway 104, from Tracadie Harbour Bridge to the Frankville Overpass, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Thursday, July 22.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

ANTIGONISH: Highway 104, Afton

Highway 104, from Exit 36A to the Gorman Road, is reduced to one lane for roadwork until Thursday, July 22.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HANTS COUNTY: Highway 102, Lantz

A temporary detour is in place on Highway 102 north of Exit 8, Elmsdale, for the replacement of the Nine Mile River bridges, northbound and southbound. This work is part of ongoing construction for the new Lantz Interchange and Connector Road.

The detour has a reduced speed limit of 80 kilometres an hour and is expected to be in place until mid-summer.

The Lantz Interchange and Connector Road is expected to be complete and open to traffic by fall.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103

Highway 103, between Exits 9 and 10, has alternating lane closures for roadwork until Thursday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Highway 103, Camperdown School Road, Camperdown

Highway 103, from Camperdown School Road, Camperdown, to Queens County line, has alternating lane closures for repaving and upgrading until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic controls consist of stop and go traffic. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

PICTOU COUNTY: Highway 104, Eastbound Lanes

Highway 104 eastbound between Exits 20 and 21 is reduced to one lane for road work until Tuesday, Aug. 31.

Work takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY: Highway 104, Port Hawkesbury

Highway 104, 880 metres west of Exit 44 for about 2.7 kilometres westerly, is reduced to one lane for paving until Saturday, July 31.

Traffic control is on site. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
