Police Investigate Weapons Call (Shooting) – Dartmouth
At approximately 7:30 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of gun shots with a male injured in the area of Alderney Landing, Dartmouth.
Multiple officers responded to the scene and located an adult male with life threatening injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. A number of officers are currently on scene, including K-9 and members of the Emergency Response Team and EHS paramedics.
Officers are actively searching for the suspect. There is no suspect description at this time. We ask that people avoid the area.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages and further information will be released when available.
UPDATE:
Officers have located & arrested three adults and are not looking for any other suspects.
Update: Approximately at 8:30 p.m., the victim, an adult male (22 yrs.) succumbed to his injuries. The name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The investigation is now a Homicide. Investigators with the Major Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Unit are conducting the investigation, which is on going.
Investigators with the General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are conducting the investigation, which is in its early stages.
