Police charge woman for stunting
Police have charged a woman for driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit earlier today in Halifax.
At approximately 2:15 p.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 outbound just before the Hammonds Plains off-ramp. The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 153 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
A 34-year-old woman from Falmouth was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, she was suspended from driving for one week and the vehicle that she was driving was seized and towed.
The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
