Lunenburg​ County​ man​ arrested​ for​ firearms​ offences

On​ May​ 25,​ Lunenburg​ District​ RCMP​ responded​ to​ a​ call​ of​ shots​ fired.​ A​ description​ of​ the​ vehicle​ was​ provided​ to​ police,​ and​ the​ caller​ included​ the​ licence​ plate​ number​ of​ a​ vehicle​ seen​ leaving​ the​ area.​

A​ patrol​ was​ made​ to​ the​ area,​ and​ the​ police​ officer​ did​ queries​ on​ the​ licence​ plate​ and​ went​ to​ the​ home​ of​ the​ vehicle​ owner​ to​ continue​ the​ investigation.​ While​ speaking​ with​ the​ owner​ of​ the​ vehicle,​ thepolice​ officer​ noticed​ a​ gun​ case​ that​ was​ open​ and​ could​ see​ a​ gun​ inside.​ The​ vehicle​ owner​ was​ arrested,​ and​ after​ being​ searched,​ he​ was​ found​ to​ be​ in​ possession​ of​ illegal​ prescription​ drugs​ and​ some​ ammunition.​ He​ was​ taken​ to​ the​ detachment.

Upon​ doing​ further​ queries,​ the​ owner​ was​ found​ to​ be​ in​ breach​ of​ a​ number​ of​ court-ordered​ conditions.​ He​ was​ charged​ and​ held​ in​ custody​ until​ a​ court​ appearance​ on​ May​ 29.​ Troy​ CurtisComeau-Martell,​ 24,​ of​ Chester,​ is​ charged​ with:​

Possession​ of​ a​ Controlled​ Substance,​
Possession​ of​ a​ Weapon​ for​ A​ Dangerous​ Purpose,​
Possession​ of​ a​ Firearm​ Knowing​ Possession​ is​ Unauthorized,​
Careless​ Use​ of​ a​ Firearm,​
Breach​ of​ Conditions,​
Possession​ of​ a​ Firearm​ While​ Prohibited

The​ matter​ will​ be​ back​ in​ court​ on​ June​ 9​ in​ Truro Provincial Court.​
