A report of a recent discovery of a Portuguese man o war was recently posted online at or near Lawrencetown Beach.
This species has occasionally made its, way into Nova Scotia but isn’t common. It can pose serious health risks (painful stings and welts, possible allergic reaction) while both alive or dead from its tentacles so should be avoided and reported to lifeguards or DNR if sighted.
