Police charge male with stunting – Dartmouth
At 11:36 p.m. on the 3rd of April, Halifax Regional Police observed a white SUV and a gray sedan travelling at a high rate of speed Northbound on 111 Highway, Dartmouth. An officer paced the vehicles speed at 160 Km/h in an 80 Km/h zone.The officer activated police lights and siren attempting to stop both vehicles. The gray sedan stopped. The white SUV increased its speed. Due to dangerous speed the officer did not continue pursuing the SUV.
A 20-year-old male from Dartmouth operating the gray sedan was charged with Stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act. Stunting is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, the man was suspended from driving for seven days and the vehicle he was driving was seized and impounded. The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
