Police charge male with stunting – Dartmouth

At 11:36 p.m. on the 3rd of April, Halifax Regional Police observed a white SUV and a gray sedan travelling at a high rate of speed Northbound on 111 Highway, Dartmouth.​ An officer paced the vehicles speed at 160 Km/h in an 80 Km/h zone.​The officer activated police lights and siren attempting to stop both vehicles.​ The gray sedan stopped.​ The white SUV increased its speed.​ ​ Due to dangerous speed the officer did not continue pursuing the SUV.

A 20-year-old male from Dartmouth operating the gray sedan was charged with Stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act.​ Stunting is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. ​ In addition, the man was suspended from driving for seven days and the vehicle he was driving was seized and impounded.​ The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
